All fields of tech are saturated with men. This has long been the problem, in the halls of Silicon Valley and beyond. For technologies that touch millions of lives, we need diversity of developers and creators. To get more women and minority groups in tech teams, we first need more women-only training hubs.
Enter ADA Lab.
ADA Lab is an advanced digital arts maker space to empower women in creative technologies. Its goal? To help more women gain confidence and careers in immersive media technologies.
Spearheaded by SA local, Onnie Chan, and supported by Women in Creative Technologies and Renew Adelaide, ADA Lab is paving the way for a new generation (and gender) in the tech sector.
ADA Lab features cutting-edge technology for women to use, receive training in, and create new career paths. The lab offers upskilling opportunities in game design, VFX, VR/AR, and AI.
ADA Ex offers experiences such as a 45-minute adventure that includes virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive projections, and art zones. For example, the retro tech zone allows you to travel back in time, play old music and immerse yourself in nostalgia, as if you were living that point in time.
The prices are affordable and accessible, making it possible for more women to explore the potential of this emerging space. ADA Lab is a hub where tech meets creativity, in a welcoming environment where there are no silly questions.
The name is inspired by the world’s first female programmer, Ada Lovelace. She was a mathematician, a visionary, and a tech optimist. She defied societal stereotypes.
ADA Lab is a space for expression, exploration, and epiphanies. Find them on level 3 at the Myer Centre
